BJP MLA demands up & down shuttle trains in Punjab

Jalandhar, Jan 31 (UNI) Senior leader and BJP MLA from Jalandhar central Manoranjan Kalia demanded running of frequent shuttle trains between Jalandhar-Phagwara, Jalandhar Cantt- Phagwara and Jalandhar-Kartarpur.
In a letter to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, Mr Kalia said Jalandhar Cantt is the busiest railway station at present from where most of the trains coming from West, South, and East touch this station while on their route to Katra, Jammu Tawi, Udampur, Katra and this railway station is known as By Pass to Jammu and Kashmir and from Jammu and Kashmir to other parts of the country. To facilitate the passengers at the cantonment railway station, round the clock pantry kitchen should be made available with food and snacks, besides constructing new waiting hall and new waiting rooms at Jalandhar Cantt railway station .
He also suggested extending the shelter shed on both sides of the Platform No 1, 2 and 3 keeping in mind the winter, summer and Monsoon Season. Installation of fresh RO system for safe drinking water for the passengers and construction of wall on the side of platform no. 2 and 3 for the safety and security of the passengers besides construction of urinals and replacing the present light system with LED and CFL lights which would add to the beauty of the station.
