Chief Minister of Puducherry N. Rangasamy declared open indoor stadium built at an estimate of Rs. 13.22 crore here on Friday.

The stadium has state-of-the-art infrastructure to host international events. Maple wood flooring has been provided on an area of about 3,000 square metres.

Events such as ball badminton, table tennis, and gymnasium could be organised here.

A separate physiotherapy unit was another advantage and it has been designed by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, on par with international standards.

Mr. Rangasamy, speaking after the inaugural of the stadium, said the indoor stadium was a felt need of residents of Karaikal. He laid the foundation-stone for an open-air stadium to be built at an estimate of Rs. 8.80 crore. He declared open a building for the Regional Transport Officer’s office built at an estimate of Rs. 2.58 crore.
