January 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 23, 2016 04:10 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Saturday staged a demonstration at Lenin Centre here in protest against the alleged involvement of Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy in the solar panel scandal in that State.

The protesters burnt the effigies of Mr. Chandy, and All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi accusing them of downplaying the scandal in which a dubious company had duped several prospective business partners with the connivance of politicians including those of the ruling Congress in Kerala.

BJYM State general secretary Chikkala Rajanikanth said that Mr. Chandy would have boldly faced the investigation, had he not committed any irregularity. Unfortunately, the top brass of the Congress backed Mr. Chandy owing to political compulsions.
