A 33-year-old software engineer was killed and a pillion rider seriously injured after an unidentified vehicle hit their two-wheeler on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway near Srirangapatna on Saturday. Though they had helmets, they were not wearing them, the Srirangapatna police said.
The deceased was identified as Goutham Kumar. The injured, Dimple (30), was rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru and is said to be critical. The police said Goutham was an employee of a software firm in Bengaluru, while Dimple is a resident of Bengaluru.
Pedestrian killed
In another accident, a 45-year-old farmer was killed after he was hit by a motorcycle in Srirangapatna taluk on Saturday. The victim, Naganna of Arakere, was walking on the road when the motorcycle knocked him down.
Two injured
Two persons were hurt in an accident near Darasaguppe in Srirangapatna. The police said a lorry hit a car and an auto. Ramakrishnagowda of Mysuru and Thimme Gowda were injured, police said.
