Attack on Shrivas aide Iftekhar too unsolved

Attack on Shrivas aide Iftekhar too unsolved
Nagpur: Just like the suspected murder of sharpshooter Manish Shrivas has remained a mystery of city’s underworld, the firing at his former aide Iftekhar Abdul Aziz alias Bhateeja in July last year at Mominpura too has gone unsolved. While there is no record of Shrivas’s murder or even missing person’s complaint from his family, Tehsil police are still groping in the dark about the armed goons who opened fire at Iftekhar.
If sources are to be believed, there could be a common link in the form of the same mastermind behind Shrivas’s alleged murder and the attack on his former accomplice Iftekhar. Shrivas and Iftekhar had ganged up to eliminate Mohammed Abid in October 2011. In the past, sources claimed that Iftekhar and Shrivas had also teamed up to eliminate Afzal in Kamptee. The duo’s growing stature in the underworld learnt to have left other established dons unnerved, especially a politically connected one.
Iftekhar, who miraculously survived two bullet injuries, learnt to have held back much information from police team. A section of police department feels that Ifthekar may be aware of the identity of the attackers.
It is reliably learnt that Shrivas and Iftekhar had also met a sand mafia of Khaparkheda to discuss a plan to eliminate a Kamptee-based don. The sand mafia leaked the information to the Kamptee-based don that Shrivas and Ifthekar are planning to murder him. Sources claimed the don got Shrivas murdered by involving some of the close aides of the victim by luring them with substantial amount. There is a strong indication that Shrivas was eliminated in the first week of March in 2012 which was a week before the murder of Monty Gulhar at a hotel on Hingna Road.
Ifthekar was later threatened with dire consequences by the Kamptee don. Sources claimed the attack on Iftekhar was perpetrated by hired sharpshooters from Jabalpur at the behest of the Kamptee-don whom he wanted to kill by ganging up with Shrivas.
City police chief SP Yadav learnt to have sent some footages of the attack, captured in a CCTV installed in one of the shops near the place where Ifhtekar was fired at, to a laboratory at Chandigarh.
