For the third time in 15 months, a Brockton man with gang ties is facing gun charges after being arrested for leading officers on a car chase in the city Friday afternoon, police said.The Enterprise said members of the Brockton Police Major Crimes Unit and undercover detectives were conducting electronic and visual surveillance of Patrick Brandao, 24, of 85 Tribou St., Apt. 27. Brandao was wearing a court-ordered electronic GPS ankle bracelet.Brandao is a person of interest in two recent incidents of gun violence in the city - on Jan. 6 around 1:30 p.m. on David Street and shortly after midnight on Jan. 12 on Carroll Avenue, Brockton Police Lt. Paul Bonanca said. As of Saturday morning Brandao had not been charged in either incident.On Friday, detectives observed Brandao driving a rented GMC Envoy on Tribou Street with Nuno Brandao, 20, of 13 French Ave., who also has gang ties. The men are believed to be cousins.Patrick Brandao has a suspended license and when officers attempted to pull him over he sped off going about 50 mph down Warren Avenue, Bonanca said.Brandao turned down Myrtle Street and then Blaine Street when officers briefly lost sight of the SUV.Officers scanned the area and found the SUV parked in a driveway in the rear of 35 Packard Way with both men fleeing on foot. Nuno Brandao was seen throwing a silver and black handgun over a fence, Bonanca said.Both men were caught and placed under arrested and police seized a 9mm Ruger loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition.Patrick Brandao was charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, unlawful possession of ammunition, failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.Nuno Brandao was charged with unlawful carrying of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and disturbing the peace.Patrick Brandao was also charged with indecent exposure after he exposed himself to an officer in an obscene way while being booked, Bonanca said.Both men are expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court Monday.For Patrick Brandao, Friday’s arrest was one of three times he has been charged with gun crimes since October 2014.On April 15 last year, 18 Brockton police officers responded to a car chase that led to the arrest of Brandao and another man.Police observed a vehicle, with Brandao inside, on Winthrop Street that appeared to be circling around the neighborhood.After a motor vehicle infraction, officers attempted pull the vehicle over and they took off.About a mile away on Linnea Avenue, Brandao and the other man jumped out of the car and fled on foot. The car continued down the road for another 100 feet and struck a fire hydrant, police said.The two were arrested and a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun was seized.In Stoughton on Oct. 17, 2014, Brandao was arrested during a raid by the State Police Gang Unit.Officers executed a search warrant at 97 Pratts Court and found a .40 caliber Glock and 9mm Ruger. Both guns were loaded and equipped with high-capacity magazines. Also seized was 10 grams of heroin and $4,500 cash.In addition, at age 18, in 2011, Brandao was arrested by the Brockton Police Gang Unit after a traffic stop for speeding that led to detectives finding a .22 caliber handgun under a seat in the vehicle, police said.
