Over three weeks after teen’s suicide, Sadhvi Prachi visits family, alleges ‘love jihad’

Sadhvi Prachi said, “This is a trick often used to misguide our girls. This is completely a case of love jihad. I will go to the police and demand action against such persons.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Vikramjeet Singh said, “We have registered a case on the basis of a written complaint by the teenager’s sister. We are also getting the suicide note checked by the forensics department to verify the handwriting. Investigation is underway.”

Geeta’s parents said she was depressed after finding out that the man, who had given his name as Vishal, had deceived her. They said Geeta wrote in the note that she stopped talking to him after discovering his identity.

According to her parents, she ended the two-page note saying, “I love you mummy, papa. I am sorry.”

Geeta’s family said she was alone at home when she hanged herself from an iron ring in the ceiling. Her mother, Mamta, said, “When we returned, we found the house locked from inside. We managed to break the door, only to find her hanging. She had even cooked for us before she killed herself.”

Her father, Shri Ombabu, an MCD employee, said, “We complained several times to police that the man was harassing my daughter. But they never acted on our complaints. He befriended my daughter by hiding his identity.”

“We got to know about them in March last year. He cheated my daughter,” said Ombabu. “Police have not yet arrested the him,” he added.
