Arulnithi in Malayalam remake

Director Arivazhagan ( Eeram and Vallinam ) has cast Arulnithi as a police officer in his next film, Aarathu Sinam . The story is by Jeethu Joseph (Drishyam). Arivazhagan has used the backdrop of cities like Madurai and Pondicherry to shoot this film that is about a police officer who takes on a gang of murderers, in order to protect his family. “The hero’s character has to fight some inner battles too, including his alcoholism. The original story of Malayalam film, Memories, has been adapted to suit the taste of Tamil viewers. Aishwarya Rajesh and Aishwarya Dutta play important roles in the film,” says Arivazhagan.

Pertinent, not preachy

Actor Aari is excited that the year has started on a good note for him, as he has bagged a role in producer Abirami Ramanathan’s Unnodu Kaa , directed by RK. “It is a romantic film meant for family audiences. I found the script exciting and socially relevant, without being preachy. I play an antique dealer. Prabhu and Urvashi play my parents in this film that will have two heroines–Maya and Misha Ghoshal,” says Aari.

Vijay Sethupathi’s next is Rekka

Even as he is waiting for the release of his first film Vaa Deal, director Rathinasiva has embarked on his second project, Rekka , with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. “This is an action-oriented script, with romance and comedy in it too. But it is the character that Vijay Sethupathi plays which will be unique-he plays a responsible citizen who is very protective of his father (played by Nasser) and his family. Vijay is paired with Lakshmi Menon,” says Rathinasiva. The film will start rolling in February, after the hero completes his current projects, Dharma Durai and Aandavan Kattalai .
