Praise For Teachers

The management and teachers of Ratu Nalewavada Primary School in Nausori Highlands were praised by their Minister, Mahendra Reddy yesterday.

The Minister hosted a talanoa session with the teachers and the school management to address some of the challenges they faced.

The school is about 80 kilometres from Nadi Town and serves the villages of Nausori Highlands.

The school has a roll of 65 students and five teachers.

Mr Reddy thanked the teachers for sacrificing to serve in such a remote location.

The school does not have access to regular bus service and relied on Rural Service Licence (RSL) providers for transportation.

“I am really impressed with the dedication and effort of you teachers to come and serve here. You have a lot of challenges, but I really appreciate your commitment to serve the children of Nausori Highlands.”

The roofs of the school were very rusty and needed urgent renovation. Mr Reddy assured the school that renovations would begin as soon as possible.

“We will renovate the whole roofing of the school and provide a water tank to ensure that your children have a conducive environment for learning,” he said.

“We are working on improving all schools in the country to bring them to the standard that we require. This Government is working towards a vision to ensure that every Fijian student have access to better and improved learning facilities.

“We will also work on renovating your teachers’ quarters and provide them a decent home to keep their families and enjoy their service here in the highlands,” he said.
