KOCHI: The Kerala high court on Friday stayed the Thrissur vigilance court’s order to register an FIR against chief minister Oommen Chandy and power minister Aryadan Muhammed in the solar scam case.
Saying that courts can’t be carried away by complaints made on the basis of mere revelations, the HC in its interim order criticised vigilance court judge S S Vasan and suggested administrative action against him.
Soon after, Vasan sought the HC’s nod for voluntary retirement.
The ruling seems to have saved Chandy for now as Congress had informally begun to think of leadership alternatives in Kerala after Left and BJP demanded he quit.
The HC order came on a day main accused Saritha Nair made sensational disclosures before a commission — including allegations that Chandy’s son had sexual relations with an accused.
