After going all out to press the party leadership to contest the Khadoor Sahib bypolls till recently, former deputy speaker and Punjab Congress leader Bir Devinder Singh today took a U- turn and threw his weight behind Capt Amarinder Singh.

Bir Devinder had recently issued a statement claiming that ‘Congress must contest the bypoll with Ramanjit Singh Sikki as its candidate.” However, in a statement today the Congress leader said that a “final decision on such matters always rest with the party top brass.” — TNS
