Dadri Lynching: 2 more named by Akhlaq kin submit proof to support alibi

While Kumar is an employee in a private firm in Noida, the minor is a Class XII student. Kumar has submitted that he was present in his office when the incident took place while the minor’s family has submitted documents of a hospital in Haryana where he reportedly had been admitted for treatment. Kumar had also claimed that he lives in a rented house in Noida and not with his family in Bisara village.

Circle Officer, Dadri area, Anurag Singh told The Indian Express that the evidence provided by Kumar “appear to be true” and police “will give him clean chit” after verifying some more details. A police team will be visiting Haryana to verify documents submitted by the family of the minor boy, he added.
“Investigation so far has revealed that Kumar was not present in the village at the time of incident, which occurred around 10 pm on September 28. His colleagues at the firm located in a shopping complex at Sector 18 in Noida have confirmed to the police about Kumar’s presence in the office till 9.40 pm on that day”.

“It takes more than an hour to reach the village from the shopping complex. His presence at the time of incident appears doubtful. Kumar’s mobilephone location, too, according to the call detail record, corroborates his presence in the shopping complex. We did not arrest him as these evidences rule out his involvement in the incident. But, we are still verifying some more details,” he added.

Investigating officer (IO) of the case, Inspector Ravindra Kumar Rathi, too said that the firm where Kumar is employed is around 45 kms from Bisara village. “Residents of the village have given an affidavit that he did not visit the village on September 28,” he added.

Contacted, Kumar’s father Dharamveer Singh said, “For the past two years, my son has been living in a rented house in Noida. He did not visit the village on September 28. He has been falsely implicated in the case”.

Meanwhile, the minor’s family claimed he was admitted to a hospital in Haryana the day the incident took place. To corroborate their claim, they have submitted documents to the district magistrate and SSP of Gautam Budh Nagar two days ago.

Speaking to The Indian Express, his uncle said, “We had informed the police about his being in hospital earlier also. Police had asked to produce the documents in this regard. We now have submitted the same”.

He added that four days before the incident, the boy had gone to his aunt’s place in Jhajjar district of Haryana. “He fell ill there and was admitted at Jhajjar civil hospital on September 26. He was discharged from the hospital on September 30. After staying at aunt’s house for another 15 days, he returned home. We have sent him to a relative’s house. He is still not well and undergoing treatment for typhoid,” he added.

His father is employed in a private firm in Gurgaon.

Meanwhile, sources in police informed that a writ petition seeking CBI probe into the matter is likely to be moved in the Allahabad High Court on Monday. Petition would be filed by the family of one of the arrested accused.

On September 28, a mob had assembled outside Akhlaq’s house following an alleged announcement from the village temple saying he had slaughtered a cow. Akhlaq was beaten to death while Danish had suffered serious injuries. Ten persons then named in the FIR were arrested. Later, Noida police included names of nine more accused on the basis of the statement of Danish and Shaista. Seven of them have been arrested so far.
