Smart City Mission: HPCC condemns Modi govt for selecting 20 cities out of 200

Shimla, Jan 29 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee unit today condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government for selecting only 20 cities under Smart City mission and said the selection only points towards policy failure of central government as about 200 cities of the country were vying for the project.
HPCC Media Department Chairman Naresh Chauhan said selecting only 20 cities under the project and allocating Rs 100 crore for construction of ideal city was not enough as more funds are required for providing all basic facilities to the residents of a particular city.
Terming the exclusion of Himachal’s cities as betrayal with the people of the state who had voted for BJP in Lok Sabha elections, Mr Chauhan questioned four BJP MPs from state- Anurag Thakur, Shanta Kumar, Virender Kashyap and Ramswaroop Sharma- as why such neglect has been accorded to the state.
