Acting isn’t all about glitz and glamour, in fact it can sometimes be painful, especially when actors decide to do their own stunts. While actors often opt for a stunt double to take on their action sequences, there are a few celebrities who choose to skip the double and do it themselves to bring in authenticity to their character and sequence. Well, one such actor is the hot and happening Pearl V Puri, who decided to go that extra mile for his new show 'Meri Saasu Maa'.
The show which premiered on January 26, sees Pearl essaying the role of Sattu, a rich young and eligible milk baron’s son from Lucknow.
For his introduction scene Pearl was supposed to jump in to fire while trying to save Pari (played by Hiba Nawab) who is trapped in a fire that’s broken out in the market. While the production had organized for a stuntman who was supposed to enact the scene as Pearl’s body double, the actor decided to go ahead and do it on his own and that too wearing a dhoti. His character on the show dons Kurta’s and dhoti and despite the actor not being very comfortable in this attire went ahead and jumped across a blazing fire.

Pearl shares, "This is my opening shot and I wanted it to look real and believable. There was a stuntman who was supposed to do the shot as my duplicate but somewhere I got the confidence and decided to go ahead with it. The scene is of a market place where Pari is trapped in a congested market that has caught fire and Pearl spots her and jumps to rescue her. It was intensely hot as we had fire all over and I had to jump and then roll across on the floor to reach towards Pari. I managed to complete the sequence in one take and while rolling on the floor I could feel some sort of frenzy on the set but I did not pay attention and completed the shot quickly. It was soon after when the production guys came running towards me with a fire extinguisher and blanket that I realized that my dhoti had caught fire and the frenzy was to douse it. Well despite this I came out unscathed with just a little skin irritation. It was a very satisfying feeling and honestly I was thrilled to have done my own stunt."
