Panaji: The first edition of Difficult Dialogues, 2016 began on Thursday at the International Centre Goa (ICG), Dona Paula.
Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar inaugurated the event which focuses on encouraging and empowering debates and diversity of ideas. The three day event will be held across two locations, ICG and Cidade De Goa.
Curated by the South Asia Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Television for the Environment, the forum has brought together policy makers, experts, scholars and academicians from around the world.
Noted thinkers and academicians including economist Urijit Patel, policy maker Sam Pitroda, DCB Bank chairman, Naseer Munjee, professor of economics Nicholas Stern, journalist James Crabtree, retired diplomat Talmiz Ahmad, experts on security and strategic affairs Uday Bhaskar, Craig Calhoun, Yogendra Yadav, Shubranshu Chowdhary, Mukulika Banerjee, Khabar Lahariya, Meera Devi Jatav and journalist Priyanka Kotamraju will discuss banking, finance, infrastructure, civil society, and India and West Asia.
