TVS Bags Two Awards For Top Quality Manufacturer: J.D. Power Survey

TVS's Wego and Apache won top honors by J.D. Power survey for quality parameters. The survey, based on different parameters for quality, is primarily driven on how the manufacturer has a reduction in engine-related issues like the braking, fit and finish, lights/electricals, ride and handling, transmission, and gauges and controls. These issues are based on the frequency of customer's report.

The survey or the study is based on problems faced by the customers with their new vehicles in the first two to six months of purchasing it. A total of 138 nagging issues covering various categories. The lower the score indicates the lesser the problem a customer has faced.

"Given the high incidence of pillion riding in India, core vehicle systems such as engine and brakes undergo a lot of stress. Therefore, it is imperative for OEMs to focus on these key systems to help enhance owners' perceptions of vehicle quality," said Mohit Arora, executive director at J.D. Power, Singapore. "With increasing competition and the frequent launch of new models, sustained quality under such adverse usage conditions can be a key differentiator."

The award is for Scooters (executive) and Motorcycles (economy, executive, upper executive and premium).

On the scooter segment, TVS Wego and Yamaha Alpha were tied to the first spot and Honda Activa came in third. As for the Motorcycles segment, Honda Neo (economy), Hero Super Splendor (executive), debutant Suzuki Gixxer (upper executive), and TVS Apache RTR 180 (premium) took top honors for the J.D. Power award for quality.
