From Twitter: Virender Sehwag smashes 1st ball of MCL for a 6 and fans salute 'Nawab'

Dubai, Jan 29: With age players change their batting style. But that doesn't apply to one man. He is none other than the "Nawab of Najafgarh" Virender Sehwag. Despite his retirement from international cricket, the Delhi batsman knows to play only one way - "see ball, hit ball".

Sehwag, who bid adieu to top-flight cricket and the Indian Premier Leauge (IPL) in October last year, has picked up the willow again to bat in the Masters Champions League (MCL) Twenty20 tournament.

The league commenced last night (January 28) in Dubai. And guess what. Sehwag was facing the first ever ball of the new tournament and what does he do? Smack it over the boundary for a six. What is how Sehwag has played, will play and continue to play.

The 37-year-old Sehwag is captaining Gemini Arabians in MCL. The opening match was against Libra Legends and Sehwag's team won by 78 runs thanks to Kumar Sangakkara's superb 86 off 43. But the talking point on social media was the Delhi batsman's first-ball six off New Zealand left-arm paceman Andy McKay.

On Twitter, fans hailed Sehwag as soon as he had flicked the ball over the on-side boundary at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Sehwag did not last long but he ensured his strike rate was over 150. He hit 21 off 11 balls (2x4, 1x6) at a strike rate of 190.90.

No matter what the conditions, bowlers, leagues are, Sehwag remains a swashbuckler.

Here are some of the reactions to Sehwag's 1st-ball six in MCL
