Suresh C. Angadi, MP, has expressed satisfaction over the selection of Belagavi city among the 20 cities selected for implementation of the Smart City project.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that the achievement was possible due to the concerted efforts of the officials of the Belagavi City Corporation and support of the State government.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore also issued a statement stating that the development of the city into a Smart City would boost all round development.

Deputy Commissioner N. Jayaram promised to do his best in the implementation of the Smart City plan.

BCC Commissioner G. Prabhu said that the plan would not only help the city develop as a model city but would also boost revenue generation from projects such as multi-utility facility complexes and other services.

However, he said that the residents should also turn “smart citizens” by paying property tax and other cess to the corporation on time.
