Kharghar killer wrote on wall: She not love me
Navi Mumbai: Srinivas Chitturi, accused of killing his wife, Pushpa, with a hammer on Wednesday had scribbled two sentences on their flat wall: ‘I love my wife, she not love me. Madhavi take care of... (his two children’s names).’
Senior inspector Dilip Kale said, “He wrote that on the wall above the wash basin in the main hall. He is not fluent in English. The statement is a clear indication that he was aware that after committing the murder he will go to jail and relatives will have to take care of his children.” Madhavi is Pushpa’s sister.
The Chitturis live in a rented flat in Kendriya Vihar complex in Sector 11, Kharghar.
Kale said, “Srinivas confessed to the crime and we have gathered sufficient circumstantial evidence from the crime scene, in case he retracts his statement in court. We have recovered the murder weapon, the blood-stained hammer and fingerprint experts have taken samples and his shirt, which has his wife’s blood stains. He did not change the shirt and covered his wife’s body with a bed-sheet to ensure that his minor son does not see his mother lying on the floor with her head bleeding due to the injury. He woke up his son and took him to his brother’s flat in Thane.”
Srinivas had arranged for a teacher’s job for his wife in Saudi Arabia. “His wife had applied for passports for herself and their son. The appointment at the passport office was scheduled on January 28. Srinivas was to return to the Gulf on February 8 and was to send her a job visa, to enable the family to stay together in the Gulf,” he said.
Kale said, “The accused has been remanded to police custody till February 1. The victim was cremated by relatives on January 26. Srinivas is the maternal uncle of the victim but such marriages are permissible within certain castes in AP. The victim’s family has gone to their native place to complete other rituals.”
