GURGAON: In a major boost to the city's power infrastructure, three new 33KV substations will be set up in Gurgaon with the help of funding from Japan. These new substations will increase the city's power distribution capacity by 40 MVA and will complement the zero-outage grid that is being built in the city.
These three substations will be among the 52 that will be built in 10 districts across Haryana within the next two years, with the help of Japanese funding.
The three sub-stations are to come up in Badshapur, Mau and Pachgaon areas of Gurgaon.
A senior official of the power department said on Wednesday that the 52 new substations, each of 33 KV, will increase the state's total power distribution capacity of the state by 515 MVA.
The power distribution company will take loans from the Japan International Cooperative Agency while the state government will fund the project under the Integrated Power Development Scheme and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojna, he said.
Apart from Gurgaon, other districts that will be benefitted by the project this year include Hisar, Mahendergarh, Rewari, Jind and Mewat. By 2017, Bhiwani, Fatehabad and Sirsa will get the new sub stations. Managing director of DHBVN, Arun Kumar Verma, said the new sub-stations will add to power capacity and more consumers could be offered power with extra load on the existing infrastructure.
Speaking about the proposal for system strengthening and providing adequacy to upcoming load growth and to ensure uninterrupted power supply in Gurgaon and Manesar area, a senior official said DHBVN plans capacity addition of 230 MVA during the financial year 2015-16. It would further be increased by 218 MVA and 253 MVA in the financial years 2016-17 and 2017-18.
