“The administrative machinery has collapsed in Karnataka. It seems to me that there is goonda raj prevailing in the State,” Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar said in Bidar on Wednesday. He was speaking to presspersons in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office after the BJP candidate Prakash Khandre filed his nomination papers before the Assistant Commissioner Venkat Raja.Mr. Shettar recalled two incidents when residents of Irani Colony in Bidar assaulted police personnel who went to arrest certain accused persons there. “If policemen are not safe in the State, then who is?” he questioned.
