MDMK chief Vaiko will meet Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi on Thursday in an effort to rope him into the Peoples Welfare Front formed with the dalit outfit VCK and Left parties as an alternative to the Dravidian majors. MDMK sources said Vaiko left for the national capital on Wednesday.

SL refugees refuse to call off fast in prison: Chaos prevailed in the Trichy Central Prison as a hunger strike by three Sri Lankan Tamil refugees entered the third day on Wednesday. All the three were arrested by the Q branch police a few days ago on charges of trying to flee to Australia. The trio were lodged in a special cell for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees along with six others.
Subash, 35, and Yugapriyan, 38, started their hunger strike in the prison on Monday while Mahendran, 41, joined them on Tuesday.
The agitators alleged they were falsely implicated by the Q Branch police and said they should be released.
Claiming that compensation from the government to those in the refugee camp was meagre, they demanded the government provide self-employment opportunities.
The police team tried to pursuade the agitating prisoners to give up their fast, but they refused to yield.The party has two MLAs, Sarat Kumar and Narayanan, who had contested the assembly election in 2011 on AIADMK tickets.
