Get ISO cert for RP Nagar police station, Bawankule tells cops
Nagpur: Guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, while inaugurating the new premises allotted for Rana Pratap Nagar police station in Trimurti Nagar on Republic Day has urged the city police to undertake an initiative to secure ISO-certification for the unit. Bawankule said that the state government would give the required help to Rana Pratap Nagar police station to reach the benchmark of sound management and performance levels to get the certification.
The police station was housed in a rented apartment so far. “Budget for furniture and other facilities too would be provided for the new police station to start functioning,” he said.
Bawankule, along with city mayor Preveen Datke, also announced the plan to organize a fund-raising programme for the city police and their families through a component included in the ‘Nagpur Mohotsav’ being organized by NMC. “Cooperation and involvement of citizens is needed to make the city safe and free of crime apart from opening of police station,” said Bawankule. He was present along with other senior officers along with city police chief SP Yadav.
“Soon Lakadganj shall be launched as a smart police station in city. We have also ensured that city police gets sufficient place to construct a new premises for Koradi police station without having to pay anything,’ said Bawankule. He also urged CP Yadav to utilize the good officers of his team to the best of their capabilities.
Datke said that the process for allotting a government place to city cops for opening Shanti Nagar police station has already been initiated too. Zonal DCP Shailesh Balkawade said that the new airy and posh premises would help the cops to function in better way.
An uncovered well in the newly opened premises of Rana Pratap Nagar police station attracted lot of concerns of the assembled cops and citizens. "There can be an untoward incident in the police station premises if the well is not covered," said a cop.
