A man shot by Greeley police while brandishing a knife has been identified as a 27-year-old parolee.
Joseph Valentino Perez was hospitalized following the Monday shooting that happened on the 1300 block of 16th Avenue, according to Kimberly Weeks, spokeswoman for the Weld County District Attorney’s office.
Perez remains in custody.
Greeley police were called to a home about a drunken man causing a disturbance. Police used a stun gun on Perez when he approached them with a knife in his hand.
Perez was wanted on arrest warrants for felony assault and escape out of the Department of Corrections.
