HC to officials: Settle Hajipur encroachment issue amicably

Patna: The Patna high court on Wednesday directed the officials concerned to settle amicably the matter related to the encroachment/unauthorized construction on the land of nagar parishad, Hajipur and adjourned the matter till February 29.
A division bench of acting Chief Justice Iqbal Ahmed Ansari and Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh was hearing a PIL in this regard filed by one Kailash Thakur, alleging that construction was going on the nagar parishad land.

Principal secretary, home department, Amir Subhani appeared in the court on Wednesday.
He stated that the officials were holding meeting on the issue and will sort out the problem at the earliest. The same court had, on January 25, directed the chief secretary and principle secretary (home) to be present in the court on January 27.
NMCH CT scan: The same bench directed the officials concerned to file an action taken report (ATR) regarding the functioning of CT scan machine at the NMCH by February 10.
NGO Nagrik Adhikar Manch, in its PIL, alleged that the CT scan machine was purchased by the NMCH in 2007-2008 but it was still not operational. The patients have to go out and unnecessarily spend lots of money on CT scan.

Council nomination issue: The same high court bench adjourned the matter till February 1 on the request of principal additional advocate general (PAAG) Lalit Kishore to assist the court in understanding the matter related to alleged irregularities in the nomination of 12 members to Bihar legislative council.
Hearing a PIL filed by Nagrik Adhikar Manch alleging that the 12 nominated members of legislative council did not fulfil the required criteria and their nomination should be cancelled.
The petitioner also stated that few of the 12 nominated members did not even belong to any of the required areas for nomination, such as science, arts, literature and law.
