RAJKOT: Jamnagar BJP MP Poonam Madam on Wednesday performed Bhoomi Pooja and laid the foundation stone for the construction of second platform at Khambhaliya station in Devbhoomi Dwarka district. Anuradha Mukhedkar, Divisional Railway Manager, Rajkot Division welcomed the MP and other invitees.
Laying down of this foundation stone for the construction of platform number 2 at Khambhaliya station will fulfill the long pending demand of the local people.
Passengers were facing a lot of hardships in boarding and deborading from the train at line No. 2 which was a non-platform line when two trains arrived simultaneously. After the construction of new platform, punctuality of the trains at Khambhaliya station will also improve.
This 350 meter long platform for line No. 2, sanctioned in the year 2015, is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 80 lakh. It is expected that construction work of this new platform will get completed by the end of December, 2016.
