Sex racket busted in Hiranagar, 7 arrested

Indore: Hira Nagar police busted a sex racket being operated from a rented apartment in Bajrang Nagar and arrested seven persons, including three women, on Wednesday.
This is the second incident in the past three months in Hira Nagar.
Shashikant Chourasia, Hira Nagar police station in-charge, said they received a tip-off from the residents of the colony that unlawful activities had been reported from the place and that many men keep coming to the place the entire day.
“We laid a trap and nabbed four women, residents of West Bengal. Three men were also arrested from the place,” he said.
Chourasia said during sustained interrogation Vikas Verma, the operator, revealed that he along with Santosh Jat used to supply girls as per the requirement of the customers.
The entire racket is being operated from Mumbai, claimed Verma. He also revealed that the women were brought from Bardhaman district of West Bengal to Mumbai and then sent to various states as per the requirements.
“Those nabbed have revealed the name of the kingpin as Babu Khan, however, we are not sure if it is correct as of now,” said Chourasia. He also added that the age of the customers ranged from 20-60 years.
“The racket was being operated by one Vikas Verma, 25, resident of Hira Nagar area along with Santosh Jat, 26, resident of Annapurna. One other Vinod Jat, 26, along with four other women, who have been arrested. They acted as brokers and coordinated with their counterparts in Mumbai. The duo had rented the apartment together some time ago,” said Chourasia.
Police seized various drugs and alcohol bottles from the place and the apartment has been sealed.
"All the seven have been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) and have been arrested. Further investigations in the case are on. We will also interrogate Verma to know the kingpin’s whereabouts," said Chourasia.
Another racket was busted in Hira Nagar on October 30 in which 11 persons including three women were arrested.
