Stephen Chow fails to attend CPPCC meeting again

27 Jan - He was either late, or would only attend the later sessions of the annual meeting, but ever since he was elected to serve on the Guangdong provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in 2013, Stephen Chow has yet to show his dedication to the event.

However, according to Epoch Times, the comedy auteur has taken his tardiness to the next level this year, by simply being absent from the meeting since it started on 23 January.

His absence was confirmed by a relevant source at the Guangdong Province CPPCC, who stated that Stephen was a no show since the opening, to the end of the afternoon group discussion.

The movie director was also reported to have not submitted any proposal at the meetings for the past three years and may not be doing so this year as well, since he has been busy with the promotions of his new movie, "The Mermaid".

Stephen is not the only CPPCC celebrity representative who has been criticised for his non-participation. Eric Tsang previously tendered his resignation after he was slammed for not attending the meetings as a Standing Committee in Jiangmen since he was appointed in 2011.
