Rodong Sinmun Accuses U.S. of Escalating Military Tension, Danger of War

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is the arch criminal screwing up the military tension and increasing the danger of war in the Korean Peninsula, quite contrary to the desire of the Korean nation for peace and national reunification, under the pretext of observing various 'pacts and agreements' with south Korea, Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says in an article.

It goes on:

The U.S. staged madcap nuclear war drills against the DPRK on an annual basis, the main factor of escalating the tension and danger of war in the peninsula.

It has staged a countless number of nuclear war drills in south Korea under various codenames over the last more than 60 years since the Korean War.

The U.S. mapped out war scenarios against the DPRK including OPLAN 5027, OPLAN 5029 and OPLAN 5030 to cope with the contingency in the peninsula. Pursuant to them, it staged ceaseless saber-rattling, posing grave threat to the DPRK and bringing dark clouds of a nuclear war to hang over the peninsula.

In August last year the U.S. hurled into south Korea the south Korea-U.S. combined division and huge war hardware whose mission is reportedly to 'dislodge the headquarters and occupy Pyongyang.' It conducted the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises with all its operation command posts in combat readiness. It even invented doubtful 'incidents of mine explosion and shelling from the north' and hurled the south Korean warmongers into a grave military provocation, pushing the situation in the peninsula to the brink of a war all of a sudden.

History and reality go to clearly prove that the U.S. is the most shameless aggressor, the root cause of misfortunes and sufferings of the south Koreans and represents the bellicose forces blocking the reconciliation and unity of the Korean nation and the reunification of Korea and increasing the danger of a nuclear war. -0-
