‘Batman V. Superman’: Batman The ‘Judge Dredd’ Of Gotham — Henry Cavill Talks A More Experienced Superman

In the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, there does seem to be a different take on how the Dark Knight will defeat the baddies in this universe. It looks like Ben Affleck’s character will be taking on a more aggressive stance with the criminals, according to The Hollywood Reporter and producer Charles Roven.

“He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.”

The producer explained Batman isn’t letting anyone slide with their misgivings and considered a vigilante and more. The last part, “executioner”? He wasn’t much for killing criminals, in fact, that was reflected in the earlier Christopher Nolan Batman Begins where he opposed the League of Assassins. His inability to “cross that line” in killing those who deserve it has probably brought the Joker and other villains back.

Perhaps this explains why Superman was adamant about burying Batman in the trailer? Perhaps the caped crusader has been a little too rough on the bad guys and Superman has gotten wind of this and decided to put it all to a stop?

If you look at Bruce Wayne’s face during his conversation with Clark Kent, a smirk is seen, with the kind of look in his eyes that indicates he’s up to no good. Even Affleck talked about how Batman is more “world weary” in the DC Special Dawn of the Justice League.

Roven mentions how he’s rather bitter even.

“He’s seen the worst of what man can do. He’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess.”

Perhaps in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Bruce Wayne’s attitude has changed completely? Roven went on to hint something that may have lead him down this path, and according to the producer, he’s “lost those that are near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age or disease.”

That being said, it was Birth Movies Death that reported last year that in Zack Snyder’s movie, Batman has been doing his crime fighting for 17 years. This means he’s seen almost two decades of what he had to see and leaves a lot to the imagination the untold stories of what occurred during that time. Producer Roven talks about those that had been lost.

A bit of a spoiler here.

In the Batman v. Superman movie, how come there’s no Commissioner Gordon cast? Well at the beginning of the movie, there is plaque seen commemorating Gordon. Would this be the tipping point for Batman to go another direction in his vigilante-ism?

Next, the story of our Superman friend since he’s gone through the experiences he’s gone through in Man of Steel and why he gets into an altercation with Batman. In a report from Screen Rant, Henry Cavill mentions how much experienced his character is and no longer “wet behind the ears” in Batman v. Superman.

From what Cavill shared, there is indeed a difference of opinion on the two heroes’ views. Although there is more than one way to take on criminals, therein lies the issue.

“He doesn’t agree with [Batman’s] form of justice. For this farm boy, who tries to do things the right way, justice at any cost is not something he can come to terms with. It’s not about one on one. Of course Superman is going to win. But it’s deeper than that. It’s more that these two great powers exist and are actually trying to achieve the same thing, but in such different way.”

Cavill also explained how Clark Kent and Superman differed and also how he contrasted towards Christopher Reeve’s performance as the iconic character.

“He is the human side of the character, but there is often this idea that Clark and Superman must be so different. He can only get away with wearing the glasses so much. If he’s drawing attention to himself by being clumsy, that’s not going to work.”

As anyone can recall, Reeve’s Clark Kent character was making himself to be obviously clumsy, so with what Cavill stated, this doesn’t appear to be the case. Perhaps this may have something to do with what Amy Adams had said regarding how much of an impact Clark made on Lois Lane in the Dawn of Justice, according to The Inquisitr.
