Associate professor quits post

Dr.T. Marx, Associate Professor at Pondicherry University, has resigned from his position as coordinator of the Study India Program in solidarity with the Dalit professors of the University of Hyderabad who had resigned last week from their administrative posts.

The senior faculty members who had quit their administrative posts after taking exception to Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani’s statement that the sub-committee of the panel that was probing the fracas between two groups of students on University of Hyderabad campus was headed by a Dalit. This follows the suicide of Dalit PhD scholar Rohith Vemula.
