Dakoda Heiser, 21, was arrested after detectives found a two-month-old baby in her care surrounded by drug paraphernalia.

A 21-year-old Pinal County woman was arrested after a child in her care was found surrounded by drug paraphernalia Friday night, the Pinal County Sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff's office received an emergency call at about 10 p.m. with a woman incoherently screaming and a baby crying in the background, said Mark Clark, a Pinal County sheriff's spokesman.

Deputies arrived at the San Tan Valley house a short time later where they found the woman from the phone call to be uncooperative and full of rage, Clark said.

Deputies tried to check the well-being of the two-month-old child, but the woman refused to comply by screaming relentlessly and banging her head against the wall, Clark said. The woman, later identified as Dakoda Heiser, demanded to see the child and started to make suicidal threats, according to Clark.

Once paramedics began to treat and evaluate Heiser, the deputies were able to enter the house where they found the infant strapped in a car seat on the bed of the master bedroom, Clark said.

Drug paraphernalia was scattered throughout the bedroom and deputies described conditions in the house as "deplorable," said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.

Babeu released a statement that indicated the home contained dog feces, empty alcohol containers and that there was evidence of drug abuse near the child.

Heiser was booked into a Pinal County jail on allegations including neglect and drug possession, according to the Sheriff's Office,

The Department of Child Services placed the child with a "responsible family member," according to the Sheriff's Office.
