The 2017 Porsche Panamera has been spied testing fully exposed inside and out.

Caught while testing in Detroit, the 2017 Porsche Panamera is expected to debut this year at an upcoming auto show, sporting a refined exterior appearance. It will also be built on an all-new platform that is underpinning numerous Porsche and Bentley models. This particular prototype appears to be a Turbo S model featuring a more refined appearance than the divisive first-generation Panamera. The rear end looks tidier and has more defined lines.

The big news is on the inside, with the new Panamera sporting significantly fewer buttons on the center console. The buttons give way to sleek-looking touch-sensitive units, while traditional large Porsche gauges will remain. There’s also a center touchscreen, helping further eliminate the wall of buttons the Panamera is often criticized for.

Rumor has it that the second-generation Panamera will spawn new variants such as a coupe and shooting brake option, while new V8 engines will be found under the hood. Don’t be surprised to see electrified variants added, considering how heavily Porsche has invested into plug-in hybrid powertrains over the recent years, most notably in its race cars.

The new Porsche Panamera will go on sale in 2017 after making its debut later this year.
