Constellation Taps Newlands To Head Wine And Spirits, Hetterich To Lead Beer

January 26, 2016

Jay Wright, who has led Constellation Brands’ wine and spirits business for the past few years, is moving north of the border. As part of a broader management shuffle, Wright has been named president of Constellation’s Canadian business, while longtime drinks industry executive Bill Newlands is replacing him at the helm of Constellation’s wine and spirits division. Newlands was previously Constellation’s chief growth officer. He’ll be replaced in that role by Ben Dollard, who has headed Constellation’s Canadian business since 2013.

Meanwhile, Bill Hackett, who was formerly president of Constellation’s beer division, has been appointed the beer unit’s chairman, with Paul Hetterich—previously EVP, corporate development and beer operations—replacing him as president. Bruce Jacobson, who has led the beer division’s sales team since 2004, will become chief commercial officer, beer.
