Dubai: Jo’s release from Al Shabab and Edgar Bruno’s axing from Al Wasl were the last major developments involving foreign players in the January transfer window before it closed at 5pm on Monday.

Jo was replaced by fellow Brazilian striker Juninho Potiguar on a five-month loan from Moldova’s Sheriff Tiraspol and Bruno made way for another Brazilian forward Rogerinho on a similar temporary deal from Kuwait’s Al Kuwait SC.

It followed Al Ain’s replacement of Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike and Dutch winger Ryan Babel with Brazilian forward Dyanfres Douglas from Japan’s Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Colombian winger Danillo Asprilla from Bulgaria’s Litex Lovech. Both arrived on two-and-half year deals.

Al Jazira roped in changes with Peruvian winger Jefferson Farfan making way for Spanish winger Angel Lafita on a two and-a-half year deal from Spain’s Getafe, while injured Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic has been temporarily sidelined for Trinidadian forward Kenwyne Jones on loan from Wales’ Cardiff City.

Al Wahda released Kuwaiti defender Hussain Fadhel and brought in South Korean defender Chang Woo-rim from Korea’s Ulsan on a two and a half year deal. Meanwhile, Al Dhafra released Argentinian midfielder Jorge Luna, Iraqi defender Ahmad Ebrahim and Spanish striker David Barral, bringing in Syrian striker Omar Khribin from Iraq’s Al Minaa, Moroccan midfielder Adil Hermach from France’s Nimes and Moroccan defender Essam Al Adoua from China’s Chongqing Lifan. All were on short term loan deals.

Al Shaab similarly made wholesale changes axing Chilean midfielder Matias Donoso, French forward Michael N’dri, East Timorese defender Celio Dos Santos and Egyptian Amr Al Sulaya. This made way for Brazilian striker Maikon Leite from Palmeiras, Uzbek defender Shavkatjon Mulladjanov from Lokomotiv Tashkent and Brazilian forwards Ze Eduardo from Goias and Marcus de Santana from Atletico Paranaense. All are loan deals until the end of the season.

Elsewhere, Emirates Club released Colombian striker Wilmar Jordan and brought in Senegalese forward Alassane Diallo from Jordan’s Al Faisaly Amman. Dibba have replaced Brazilian midfielder Elias Luiz with Ebrahima Diakite from Oman’s Saham, and Sharjah replaced Brazilian midfielder Renato Caja with fellow Brazilian midfielder Ricardo from Moldova’s Sheriff Tiraspol.

The only clubs that didn’t make any changes to their foreign quartet were Al Nasr, Fujairah and Al Ahli, although Al Ahli did register Brazilian striker Jociel Ferraira who is returning from long term injury in place of injured Brazilian striker Rodrigo Lima.
