A motorist was seriously injured Monday evening after becoming wedged under a lorry on the A13.

The driver, a German citizen, was travelling along the A13 towards Schengen at around 20:30 in the evening when a wheel on the lorry in front of him burst. The motorist attempted to steer his vehicle towards the emergency lane when a crashed into the back of him and sent him underneath the lorry, where he was dragged for around 120 metres before the lorry came to a stop on the hard shoulder.

The motorist became trapped in his car and had to be freed by firefighters before being rushed to hospital with serious injuries. No further details about his current condition have yet been released.
