Surat: A two-year-old leopard that fell into a well near Mahayavanshi Maholla of Dhanori village in Gandevi taluka of Navsari district was rescued by forest officials on Monday . People on hearing some sounds coming from the well had informed the forest officials.
“The well was only three feet wide and so dropping a cage into it was proving to be difficult.
We cut the size of the cage and dropped it into the well. This took us lot of time as we didn't want the leopard to be injured in the process. Finally , the big cat was brought out safely at around 3.30pm,“ said J M Naik, range forest officer, Navsari district.
“The animal is healthy . It may have fallen into the well in the early morning hours while trying to drink water. We will soon release the leopard into the jungle,“ he added.
