'Kalpana chechi looked a bit frail when I last met her'

Celebs Ranjith Sankar and Vinay Forrt were among the last few from the film fraternity to share conversations with actress Kalpana before her demise. We caught with them and actress Aparna Gopinath, who had worked with the actress in ABCD and Charlie, to know their memories:

I met her for the first and last time while on my flight to Hyderabad, a few days ago.She sat a row ahead of mine and meeting her was quite a pleasant experience. From someone who started off with comedy roles, she brilliantly took up strong character roles too, which she went on to present with perfection. Her role in Spirit is what stuck to my mind as her best.
I would hang around the sets just to watch her: Aparna Gopinath
I was lucky enough to act in two films with her - ABCD and Charlie. We had no combination scenes and I would hang around the sets, just to observe how she handled characters with ease. An icon from my childhood, she left us by essaying a role that would stay in our hearts forever - Queen Mary!
Never thought I won’t see her again: Vinay Forrt
I was always in awe of her acting talent. And whenever we met, we used to talk about our latest films, and the roles we essayed. A warm and positive person, she looked a bit frail and tired when I met her at the flight while going to Hyderabad on Sunday, but her thoughts and words were never affected by it. As she was in Hyderabad for the shoot of her Telugu movie, we parted at the airport and it was shocking for all of us to hear the news in the morning.
