Joachim Loew raised Jerome Boateng's hope to be part of Germany's EURO 2016 squad as the Germany coach supported him via the German Football Association (DFB) homepage on Monday.

Despite Boateng's serious groin injury, Loew leaves the door open for the Bayern Munich defender as he said "We will support him."

The 27-year-old center injured during Friday's 2-1 victory over Hamburg. The German giants confirmed on Saturday that Boateng will be sidelined "for the time being" without giving a precise date of his comeback.

"I spoke to Jerome today and told him that I believe in him. He can still make it into the EURO squad. We will keep the door open for him as long as possible. Jerome is a fighter and a top professional. He has the will and attitude to do everything. He needs patience and should not be put under pressure," Loew added.

Boateng, who recently penned a contract extension with Bayern until 2021, was part of Germany's World Cup winning squad in 2014. He made his first cap for Germany in October 2009 to make 57 appearances ever since.

The UEFA Euro 2016 will be held in France from June 10 until July 10. Endit
