RJD forms panel to redress party polls disputes

Patna: The RJD on Monday constituted a three-member committee to redress the disputes pertaining to organizational polls in Bihar.
Party spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said the committee was constituted as per RJD president Lalu Prasad's directive under Section 27 of the party's constitution. He said the committee would be headed by former legislator Vinod Kumar Yadavendu.
Former MLAs Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhaskar and Reyajul Haque Raju will be other members of the committee.
Gagan said the committee would look into the grievances of party workers in the districts where election of district presidents or block presidents could not be either held or name of the presidents could not be announced due to some disputes.
Sources said RJD recently re-elected Ram Chandra Purbey as its state president, but it could not finalize the name of district presidents in at least 10 organizational districts. While elections for the district presidents could not be held in six districts, namely Begusarai, Bhojpur, Bhagalpur Mahanagar, Bagaha, Jehanabad and Arwal, due to one or the other reasons, the rest four districts namely Samastipur, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur Mahanagar and Darbhanga Mahanagar units unanimously authorized Lalu to name the district president.
Though Lalu had earlier said he would name the president of those district units which had authorized him for the same, he later told the state party leaders that the name of district presidents should be decided through the provisions laid in the party constitution. Now, the state party leaders had also been asked to hold organizational elections in all those districts and blocks where it could not be held on the scheduled dates due to some reasons.
