Egypt claimed their fourth successive win in the handball Africa Cup of Nations on Monday upon outclassing minnows Gabon 31-16.

The hosts dominated the game from the very beginning, going to the dressing room with a comfortable 13-7 lead.

The Group A leaders widened the gap in the second period to secure maximum eight points, two ahead of the second-placed Algeria who had defeated Cameroon 34-27 earlier in the day.

Egypt star Ahmed El-Ahmar, who was introduced in the second half, produced a solid performance to hit six goals.

The Pharaohs, who have already secured a place in the tournament's quarter-finals, will face Morocco on Tuesday in the final day of the group stage.

The eventual champions will automatically reach the summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, while the top three will qualify for next year's World Championship in France.
