Initially, the script in question was titled Farmayish, but was later reportedly called Kaabil, and this project is being directed by Sanjay, starring Hrithik Roshan for the Roshans' home production.
Sudhanshu Pandey to sue Rakesh Roshan, Sanjay Gupta and writers?
There seems to be a new development in the fight between actor Sudhanshu Pandey (of 'Dus Kahaniyaan,' 'Singh Is Kinng,' 'Singham' fame) and filmmakers Rakesh Roshan, Sanjay Gupta and writers Siraj Ayaz Ahmed and Vijay Kumar Mishra, over ownership rights of a script. Initially, the script in question was titled 'Farmayish,' but was later reportedly called 'Kaabil,' and this project is being directed by Sanjay, starring Hrithik Roshan for the Roshans' home production.

To refresh the minds of those who have just joined the story, here is how it all began. Sudhanshu claims that this is his story that he developed with Siraj. He had pitched it to his filmmaker friend, Sanjay. They had even got Ekta Kapoor's production house to back this film. However, when Sanjay narrated the story to Hrithik, the actor is said to have liked it so much that he came up with the counter offer of asking his father Rakesh Roshan to produce it under their home banner. This was not acceptable to Sudhanshu. When the news came out that Sanjay was making the film with the Roshans and trade magazines carried notices saying that they (Sanjay and Roshan Sr) had the rights to the story, Sudhanshu lodged a criminal complaint against the writers.
In retaliation to the story rights fracas, there were media reports that Roshan had filed a defamation case of Rs 50 crore against Sudhanshu in the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate's Court. However, Sudhanshu says he hasn't received any notice yet. The actor, who had filed a criminal complaint against Vijay and Siraj, says he will now also sue Sanjay and Roshan. 'I'll be soon filing a case against Mr Roshan, Mr Gupta and the writers in the High Court. My lawyer is completing the paperwork,' he says, adding, 'And whatever I state in my case, I will substantiate with evidence.'
Sanjay Gupta: No criminal charge against me, Rakesh Roshan
As for his response to Roshan's defamation case against him, Sudhanshu says, 'I read about this in the papers. Neither my lawyer nor I have got any legal notification regarding this so far.' He goes on to say that the police investigation following his complaint in the Amboli Police Station is underway. 'After I registered the criminal complaint, the cops began their investigation. They have called everyone concerned ' from the writers and the filmmakers to even the heads of the trade magazines that carried the notices,' explains Sudhanshu.

On his part, Roshan says that he filed the defamation case on January 14 and the law will take its course. Although it has been reported that 'Kaabil' has Hrithik in the lead under Sanjay's direction, Roshan Sr maintains he hasn't announced his film yet. As for the defamation case, he adds, 'The hearing will happen in the first week of February.' We will wait and watch how this case takes a turn.
