Youths were flown to Ecuador: Travel agent

Kapurthala: The fourth travel agent arrested by Kapurthala Police from Delhi in the reported boat capsize case has told cops that the three youths, including the survivor, were flown to Quito, capital of Ecuador, for their further journey to US.
The travel agent named Ravi has also told interrogators that his accomplice Sanjay, who is still out of police net, knew more about their further travel plans.

However, he has said that these youths being trafficked illegally were supposed to travel from Ecuador to Columbia and then to Panama.
A week after the reported accident, there is no official word on the boat capsize incident. On January 17, families of Gurjit Singh and Gurwinder Singh had complained that they had learnt from family of one Sonu, a resident of village Larroyi near Bhogpur, that the boat in which they were being taken by travel agents capsized near Panama. He said that while Gurjit and Gurwinder drowned, he survived. Kapurthala SSP Rajinder Singh said they have no official confirmation or information on the mishap beyond what Sonu's family conveyed.

"Ravi has claimed in his questioning that Sanjay knew more about their travel plans. We are on the lookout for him," said Kapurthala SP (detective) Jasbir Singh.
Meanwhile, a local court extended police remand of accused Bunty alias Samuel for two days more. He was produced in a local court on Sunday after his four-day remand had ended.
Police sources said the investigations were showing that different agents working at different levels did not know much beyond their roles as those "above them" kept them in the dark about the detailed plans too.
'Sub agents' Kulwinder Singh Multani and Harbhajan Singh, who are local residents, were involved more in arranging new clients and putting the families of the youths in touch with Sonu. The latter has so far maintained that he was involved only in sending them through Sanjay and Ravi.
