Dragon Ramona Nicholas bows out as she's expecting baby in March after trying for 3 years

The Cara pharmacy founder announced she's pregnant again after trying to conceive for three years.

Ramona and her husband Canice have a five-year-old son Alex.

The 38-year-old said she won't be taking part in the new series of the RTE show Dragons' Den as she is due in March.

"I view this as a gift. You have to ask yourself 'What's important?'," she said.

"We are seeing so many people having problems having children and it's not something we want to take for granted.

"The priority for us now is having a happy, healthy child.

"You hate letting people down but I didn't want to be in a situation where I had to pull out [of filming] in the middle of it," she added.

Ramona also said that people need to be more sensitive before asking women about their pregnancy plans as you never know what someone might be going through.

"We had been trying for a while and I was having both women and men - but more women - ask me if I was pregnant because my stomach was a bit swollen due to a cyst on my ovary," she said.

"On another occasion I was on holiday with my husband and I got a text congratulating me on my pregnancy.

"I just replied saying that I would love to be, but I am not. They had heard it down the country somewhere," she added.

The TV star said unwanted comments or questions to women can be hurtful on top of an already stressful situation.

"You get to the stage where you get obsessed thinking about it," she said.

"You're constantly asking yourself: 'Why can I not? What's wrong with me? Why can I not have another child?'"

Ramona is now planning to take some time off to focus on motherhood.

When Alex was born she was back answering emails within two days.

"Now I feel more confident that I can make a decision and that I don't have to be driven by what other people expect I should be doing as a woman who is running their own business," she said.
