Well Said!!!!! Not only Mirissa even all these five stars hotels also... they forgot that what business they were used to do in 90s...
Nala Monday, 25 January 2016 05:01 PM
This happens in the Galle Fort as well, where most locations are anyway owned by Foreigners.
Cobra Monday, 25 January 2016 11:55 AM
There will always come a time when they will beg local tourists for their patronage and at that time we must show them their nakedness. Not all locals are what they think they are. 99% are decent folks who want to spend a decent holiday suffering their insipid cuisine!
Romesh Monday, 25 January 2016 11:09 AM
Seriously?! You might as well tell the tourists to make use of their own local bars in their home countries and not SL.

Very true. Once my cousin gave a call to a guesthouse and asked in Sinhala whether a room is available. They said all rooms were occupied. Few minutes later another cousin living abroad and has a foreign accent asked whether rooms were available. Then we were able to book 2 rooms.

Sensible advice. This gives the hotel owner rights too. If the guests breaks the terms of the booking in regard to behaviour and number of guests per room the guest can be blacklisted on a multi agent data base.

Even recently a Provincial Council guy was arrested in Spore for groping a girl in a lift. They get stirred libido when they see foreigners.

I must commend Trinco Blue a hotel used often by many working in the East during the conflict. The staff at the hotel remember this and try to accommodate our requests even though they now enjoy a full house after the end of the war. Thank you Trinco Blue staff for extending such hospitality. via DM Android App

SLTDA, local drunkards, perverts and trouble makers are not tourists, they ruin the image of Sri Lankans abroad. They have enough other local bars and restaurants to spend their good times.
sanjaya.dias Monday, 25 January 2016 08:28 AM
Really true. Very unfair they always reject to give accommodation for locals.
Fritz Monday, 25 January 2016 05:52 AM

This discrimination at Mirrisa has been going on for the last 10 years. I too was turned down and I then decided never to visit Mirrisa. At last "Yahapalanaya" in action.
Nick Monday, 25 January 2016 04:32 AM
if you need to go to Mirissa select the hotel you want and then book trough Agoda or Booking.com . they cannot refuse your entry.

Address the unruly behavior of locals....
CitizenPerera Monday, 25 January 2016 12:27 AM
SinhaLei unwelcome here? Publicize all these resorts that discriminate and boycott them by using social and mass media. They will learn their lesson very soon.

Tourist police have to monitor this issue, other than else, if any wrongdoing arrest culprits without nationality issue.
MAMA Sunday, 24 January 2016 10:44 PM
Similar matter scene in Ella too!
Bala Sunday, 24 January 2016 10:33 PM
You saw what happened to British tourist at Htota smashed by Htota Mayor. Similarly Southern Province politiccs are a law unto themselves with their catchers. The Mirissa hotels will lose business with one incident - so they are careful. Let govt give police protection from 6pm to 2am.
Gamarala Sunday, 24 January 2016 09:02 PM
Good and Bad. Our stupid Black Money People dows Not know how to behavior. But we r lankans and the can Not say we r Not welcome.
Ruwan Sunday, 24 January 2016 08:56 PM
It has been going on for more than 20 years, I believe. Similar incident happened in mid 90s to us but we managed to get in.
SIRIBIRIS Sunday, 24 January 2016 08:17 PM
ITS RIDICULOUS, THEY FORGOT THE PAST, DURING WAR TIME THEY HAD 90% LOCAL TOURISTS AT MIRISSA. THEY EARNED THEIR LIVINGS BY LOCALS, NOW THEY NEGLECT US...FUNNY NATURE
