Palanpur: Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) has threatened to launch the third phase of their quota stir if PAAS convener Hardik Patel and others are not released by January 30. On Sunday, close to 200 Patidars from the state met in Mehsana to discuss the future course of action regarding the reservation demand.
Mehsana PASS convener Satish Patel said, "We have resolved to seek cooperation from other communities." He added that PAAS will also organize a women's convention on January 28 wherein they expect participation of 1 lakh women from north Gujarat.
"All will be coming with thaali and belan and would gather at GIDC Ground in Mehsana to protest the imprisonment of Patidars," Patel said.
At the meeting, a Patidar youth from Godhra, Nirav Patel, also threatened to immolate himself on January 29 if the state government does not give in to their demand for release of the leaders. "We have given sufficient time to the state government to release our community members. But it seems they have turned deaf ears to our voices," Patel said.
In the meeting, PAAS members also decided that they will be provide drinking water all along the route of "Shun Addiction Rally" to be organized by the Thakore community on January 26.
