Kumharia village of the district has shown the way for others by registering a sex ratio of 1,556 girls against 1,000 boys in 2015.
Of 69 children born in Kumharia village from January 1 to December 31, 2015, 42 were girls. The district registered an overall sex ratio of 893 girls against 1,000 boys last year, the highest in five years. The sex ratio in Fatehabad was 858 in 2010, 846 in 2011, 840 in 2012, 869 in 2013 and 889 in 2014.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) NK Solanki confirmed that sex ratio in the district had increased and Kumharia village had set an example.
“In 2014, Kumharia village had registered a high sex ratio of 1,250 girls when of 81 births between January 1 and December 31, 45 were of girls,” said Dr Sujata Bansal, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Fatehabad.
