A man murdered his 30-year-old wife at their home in Amba Nagar on Udhna Magdalla Road and chopped the body into pieces. The gruesome murder came to light early on Sunday after police raided the residence.

SURAT: A man murdered his 30-year-old wife at their home in Amba Nagar on Udhna Magdalla Road and chopped the body into pieces. The gruesome murder came to light early on Sunday after police raided the residence.
Police booked Shyam Bahadur Verma, 33, resident of Amba Nagar, for allegedly murdering his wife Kirandevi. Following series of disputes with wife, Verma slit her throat with a knife and murdered her on Friday.
Later he chopped and separated her head, hands and legs. He dumped some body parts in a rivulet water from a bridge in Udhna. The remaining body was kept covered in a plastic bag in the house till Saturday night and before he could dump it police raided the house.
Locals alerted police about suspicious movement of the accused after which police raided his residence. The accused had escaped from home before police reached. Police recovered the remaining body and sent it for post mortem.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the husband murdered wife out of repetitive disputes. On Thursday also they had a heated argument,” said P K Patel, police inspector, Khatodara police station.
The couple had fought over going to a marriage and Verma had doubt on his wife that she has affair with some other man.
