Road widening to decongest Thane traffic

After the much needed road widening at Pokharan Road no.1, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) civic chief Sanjeev Jaiswal has now decided to undertake road widening works at Ghodbunder Road, Kapurbawdi Junction, Kavesar, Duttwadi, Kharegaon, Saket to Balkum, Budhajinagar, Kalwa and other important roads across the city.

With increase in vehicular population complaints regarding traffic congestion had gone up resulting into congestion due to which the decision to widen road was taken.

To undertake the work, civic chief surveyed the proposed areas where road widening has to be done. Necessary instructions to all concerned officials along with city development department have been given to expedite the process.

After Pokharan road no.1, Ghodbunder service road is next in line as the widening of this road will take care of the local traffic on this stretch.

TMC officials said, "We have received an overwhelming response from the residents who have always co-operated in our endeavours and we are expecting the same response for other road widening works."

TMC will conduct a survey of all areas before they start off with work and they will accordingly take up the task in a planned way and in different phases.

Thanekars are quite happy with TMC's ambitious plan of road widening as this might provide them some relief from the traffic.
