The non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued against DMK MLA Nandha T.Saravanan by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in a case filed by Commercial Taxes Department was on Saturday recalled after the legislator appeared in court.
The Commercial Taxes Department had charged him and two others -- R.Thirumalai and M.Ganesan -- for failing to pay tax dues to the tune of Rs. 21 crore which included penalty while they were running petrol bunk between 2006 and 2008. The case was registered in 2008 against them under the various provisions of Value Added Tax Act, Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act and Indian Penal Code.
The case has been pending in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and reached the stage of framing of charges against the accused. As Mr. Saravanan failed to appear for hearings, the court on Friday issued non-bailable warrant against him.
On Saturday, the MLA appeared and got the NBW issued against him recalled.
